Telegram lets users sign up without phone number and brings more new features

The popular chat application Telegram has introduced a lot of new features with the latest update. One of the major changes that are being rolled out is its new sign-up process that does not require a phone number. Until now, users were required to enter their mobile number to create a Telegram account.

The messaging service stated in a blog post that new users can now sign up for a Telegram account using blockchain-powered anonymous numbers available on the Fragment platform.

In addition to no-SIM signups, Telegram has also introduced a global auto-delete timer to help users automatically delete all chats after a predefined period. This can be configured from settings > privacy and security > auto-delete messages.

The latest update also introduces new settings options for group admins, which allows them to enable aggressive mode, which automatically filters spam messages using AI, and this feature is available for groups that have over 200 members.

For added security, Telegram has also introduced temporary QR codes, which are useful for those who want to hide their identity on the app (like user name and phone number) but still want other users to discover and chat with them. The latest update also introduced emoji search on iPhones and iPads, which was recently made available on Android devices.
