‘Scream 5’: Neve Campbell, David Arquette are up for sequel

Los Angeles, May 7 (IANS) Actress Neve Campbell says conversations and negotiations related to “Scream 5” have started.

Talking about it, Campbell told etonline.com: “The conversations are being had, that’s for sure. There was a lot of talk about it. I wasn’t sure it was going to happen and I was approached six weeks ago, but the timing’s not great right now, obviously. We’re starting conversations, we’re starting negotiations, but who knows how and when studios are going to open again.”

It’s been almost 24 years since the first Wes Craven-directed slasher film hit theaters. Campbell famously played Sidney Prescott in the franchise.

Campbell said that two directors approached her for the project “who have such a great respect for Wes Craven”, adding: “They really want to honour his work. So that’s really lovely.”

David Arquette, on the other hand, said that he didn’t know much about what fans can expect from a possible fifth film but would love to be a part of it.

“I don’t know. Who knows, what are they gonna do? Is it a whole new franchise? Are they going to bring back some (characters)? Oh it would be exciting! I love playing Dewey so I would always love to be a part of it.”
