Sci-fi comedy series ‘Upload’ gets the nod for season 2

Los Angeles, May 9 (IANS) Emmy Award-winning writer Greg Daniels’ “Upload” has been renewed for season two.

Created by Daniels, “Upload” is a quirky sci-fi comedy. The series imagines a future where people can choose to be ‘uploaded’ into a virtual afterlife of their choice when they find themselves in a near-death situation, of course, for an amount. The adventure unfolds through the story of a young app developer who ends up in hospital following a car accident, and has to decide his fate.

The show has been renewed for a second season just a week after “Upload” premiered on Amazon’s Prime Video. An episode count for season two has not been announced, reports hollywoodreporter.com.

“I am thrilled to continue a great relationship with Amazon Studios and this wonderful cast and find out what happens next to Nora and Nathan and Ingrid and their 2033 world,” said Daniels, adding: “With this news, I can stop drawing my season two flip book.”

The show stars Robert Amell, Andy Allo, Kevin Bigley, Owen Daniels, Allegra Edwards and Zainab Johnson. It is set in the future (2033) where technological advancements such as hologram phones, 3D food printers and automated grocery stores are the norm.

Amazon Studios head Jennfer Salke said: “In ‘Upload’, Greg Daniels delivered a smart, cinematic comedy crackling with intrigue, and it has clearly delighted our customers who have spent a lot of time in Lakeview this past week. We know our global fans want to see the next chapter with Nathan and Nora, so we are greenlighting season two and are excited that Greg’s passion project has found such a devoted audience.”
