<br>With the new Reno 4 series, OPPO has fired up the Rs 30,000-Rs 40,000 segment which is dominated by the likes of OnePlus and Samsung.
Carrying on its tradition of excellence in photography and video technology, OPPO has enhanced its video capabilities especially in the Reno 4 Pro, which is the successor to the Reno 3 Pro and comes with support for 65W fast charging, quad cameras in a beautifully aligned single line at the back, high refresh rate display and more.
Reno 4 Pro price in India has been set at Rs 34,990 for the lone, 8GB RAM+128GB storage variant. The phone comes in two different colour options — starry night and silky white.
Here’s our take on the latest Reno offering.
One distinctive difference from past generation Reno series is the Reno 4 Pro’s slimness and light weight. It weighs only 172 grams.
The phone features a 6.5-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen with a 90Hz high-refresh-rate and a single punch-hole cutout on the top-left corner that houses the selfie camera.
The display is bright enough to use outdoors.
Reno4 Pro also meets the eye care standards with its ‘TUV Rheinland Full Care Display Certification’, ensuring the eye’s safety even while browsing the phone at night before bed or streaming Netflix thanks to its ‘Netflix HD Streaming Certification’.
In terms of design and slimness, the device scores full marks over its nearest rivals.
The buttons are ergonomically placed on either side of the device.
On the bottom, there is a USB Type-C port, a single speaker, and a headphone jack.
The SIM tray is on the top of the phone and supports two Nano-SIM cards as well as a microSD card.
At the back, four rear camera lenses are placed in the best possible way.
The phone is powered with a ‘3D Borderless Sense Screen’ that elevates the premium look and feel.
With its ultra-slim body and lightweight design, users can hold the device comfortably.
Moreover, Reno4 Pro comes with a unique anti-glare matte finish on its back cover, which makes it fingerprint-resistant.
The device has the quad rear camera setup that includes a 48MP primary Sony IMX586 sensor with an f/1.7 lens and an 8MP secondary sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens.
The camera setup also has a 2MP macro shooter and a 2MP mono shooter.
Further, there is a 32MP Sony IMX616 selfie camera sensor at the front, with an f/2.4 lens.
In terms of image quality, the above-mentioned combination of sensors delivered predictable results during the day as well as night with good details.
For selfie lovers, the phone has an Ultra Night Selfie Mode.
The camera comes with features like AI Colour Portrait, Night Flare Portrait, and an Ultra Dark Mode to deliver an enhanced camera experience.
Portrait as well as Night mode shots came decent.
There is also a 960 frames per second (fps) AI slow-motion video recording option at 720p resolution. The company has also offered electronic image stabilisation (EIS) support for the front camera sensor.
The selfies shot had punchy colours and good amounts of details in different light conditions.
The Reno 4 Pro is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G with an octa-core CPU and Adreno 618 GPU. This is paired with 8GB RAM and upto 256GB storage options to choose from.
During the review, we did not face any issues with the performance.
We played Asphalt 9, Shadow fight 3, Call Of Duty along with other games and all ran just fine with reasonably good graphics.
It runs ColorOS 7.2 which is based on Android 10. The UI and the Snapdragon 720G flow well on the Reno 4 Pro.
The smartphone houses a 4000mAh battery which easily lasted for about a day and a half on average. The smartphone supports up to 10V/6.5A, 65W Flash Charging which can be fully charged in nearly 36 minutes.
Conclusion: The device offers next-gen video stabilisation function to help vloggers capture steady and smooth videos.
OPPO Reno 4 Pro is a good performance-based smartphone in the India market but some better alternatives have appeared in the market like the OnePlus Nord.
For Reno series lovers, Reno 4 Pro is a super upgrade.
