Microsoft Edge Has The Highest Rated protection Against Malware And Phishing By CyberRatings Latest Report

Cyberratings.org has published their 2021 web security test, where Microsoft Edge tops the position among other web browsers.

The test was run between Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox. For those, who are not aware of CyberRatings, it is a non-profit entity that provides transparency on cybersecurity products. It was established in December 2020.

According to the company, the test ran for 20 days, four times a day. A total of 80 tests were made. The test suggests that Microsoft Edge provides 97.4% more protection than Google Chrome and Firefox.

Chrome provided 86.3% and Firefox 81.8%.

On Phishing. Edge browser provided 92.3% more protection. Where Chrome and Firefox provided 84.6% and 83.2% respectively.

The test ran on the flowing browsers-

  • Google Chrome: Version 90.0.4430.212 – 91.0.4472.19
  • Microsoft Edge: Version 91.0.864.19 – 91.0.864.37
  • Mozilla Firefox: Version 88.0.1 – 88.0.1

Into the test, the ability to warn users about potential attacks was checked. Websites that use unfair practices and trick users to download malware, stay for a very short period of time. So, as fast a browser would be able to identify those sites it is better for the users.

During the test, CyberRating tested the ability to block malicious URLs every six hours to execute how long it is taking to add the protection.
