Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan Part One motion poster out

Today, (July 2), the makers of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s much-awaited film ‘Ponniyin Selvan Part One’ have released the motion poster from the film. ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ will release in two parts, and the first part will be debuted in cinemas on September 30.

Directed by Mani Ratnam, Ponniyin Selvan – Part 1 has a stellar cast including Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sarath Kumar, Vikram Prabhu, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Prabhu, Parthiban, and Prakash Raj.

Sharing the motion poster, the official Twitter handle of Lyca Production wrote, “Look out! Brace yourself. Get ready for an adventure. The Cholas are coming! #PS1 @madrastalkies_#ManiRatnam (sic).”

The film’s plot is set against the backdrop of the 10th century and Ponniyin Selvan tracks the factional power struggles within the Chola empire, with enemies of the state acting as catalysts. The story is set in the tumultuous period before Ponniyin Selvan (son of River Kaveri), later known as Rajaraja Chola became one of the greatest emperors in Indian history ushering in a golden age.

The film features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini, Vikram as Aditya Karikalan, Karthi as Vandhiyathevan, and Trisha as Kundavai.

Ponniyin Selvan Part One is being jointly produced by Mani Ratnam and Lyca Productions while Siva Ananth is the film’s Executive Producer. A.R. Rahman will be composing the music and Ravi Varman has been roped in for cinematography.

PS-1 is slated to release worldwide on September 30, in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
