Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ to release on this date; See the teaser

Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus historical drama Ponniyin Selvan’s second installment, PS 2 will release on April 28, 2023, the makers announced on Wednesday. The first part ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’ became one of the biggest blockbusters in the Indian film industry. Its cast is headlined by Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Karthi, among others. The film collected more than Rs. 500 crores worldwide in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada languages.

As promised, makers shared a special announcement teaser on December 28 , 4:00 PM announcing the release date of ‘PS 2’ to be April 28, 2023.

The announcement was made with the caption “Cholas Are Back’” on social media by production houses Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions.

“Let’s get those swords in the air as we await the 28th of April 2023!” read the tweet.

Directed by Mani Ratnam, the ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ will also see the return of other ensemble cast members like Sobhita Dhulipala, Vikram Prabu, Lal, Rahman, Kishore, Ashwin Kakumanu, Nizhalgal Ravi, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, Jayachitra, Vidya Subramanian, R. Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Jayaram, Prabhu, and Prakash Raj among others.

Produced by Ratnam and Subaskaran Allirajah under Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, the epic historical action-adventure film has been written by Mani Ratnam, Elango Kumaravel, and B. Jeyamohan. The movie has music by AR Rahman and cinematography by Ravi Varman.
