Majority do not plan to cut down on services taken

New Delhi, June 10 (IANS) An IANS CVoter Economic Battery Wave survey on Wednesday showed that majority of the people do not plan to cut down on domestic services hired by them, notwithstanding the Covid-19 outbreak.

As per the ‘CVoterTracker: Economic Battery 4″, 60.9 per cent of the respondents across categories said they will continue to avail these services.

These responses were to the question on whether or not the repondents planned to cut down on the services taken.

These services include domestic help, driver and cook, among others.

However, 39.1 per cent of the respondents planned to cut down on these services.

In urban areas, 64.9 per cent of the respondents opted for continuing with the services, while 35.1 per cent planned not to avail them.

Across various groups based on age, gender, income, education and location, among others, 74.2 per cent of the respondents said that they did avail these services, whereas 25.8 per cent said they did not.

Besides, those who opted to cut down on these services cited reasons such as financial constraints (5.6 per cent across categories) and hygiene (4.5 per cent).

Notably, 10 per cent of the respondents from semi-urban areas cited financial constraints, followed by 5.1 per cent in urban and 3.5 per cent in rural areas.

On hygiene, 7.8 per cent of urban respondents cited safety reasons as a concern in not availing these services, while 5.1 per cent in rural areas and 1.2 per cent in semi-urban areas expressed similar feelings.

Incidentally, 68.2 per cent of the respondents across categories said that they did not avail these services even before the Covid-19 outbreak.
