Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC 12) show got itself into a controversy over a question regarding Manusmriti, Dr BR Ambedkar. As well, now it has created a stir across social media.

The controversy was created after Amitabh Bachchan asked a question related to Manusmirti in the Karamveer episode where social activist Bezwada Wilson and actor Anoop Soni had come as guests.

The question was worth Rs 6,40,000 –

Q: On 25 December 1927, Dr BR Ambedkar and his followers burned copies of which scripture?

Options: (A) Vishnu Purana (B) Bhagavad Gita, (C) Rigdev (D) Manusmriti

The answer to the question is Manusmriti and after stating it, Amitabh Bachchan said (as translated from Hindi), “In 1927, Dr. BR Ambedkar condemned the ancient Hindu text Manusmriti to ideologically justify caste discrimination and untouchability and he also burned copies of it.”

The KBC episode question annoyed some netizens who accused the show of running a “leftist propaganda”, while others said it hurt Hindu sentiments.

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri shared a clip from the show on micro-blogging site Twitter, claiming KBC was “hijacked by Commies”. “Innocent kids, learn this is how culture wars are won. It’s called coding,” he tweeted.

Another Twitter user stated, “This is out of desperation to show BR Ambedkar as anti-Hindu which he was not. They want to divide Hindu community on the basis of caste. They are stripping themselves through these kind Propaganda.”
