International Yoga Day 2022: PM Modi participated in the Yoga Day program in Mysuru

June 21 is observed as ‘International Yoga Day’ every year since 2015, to spread awareness about the invaluable benefits of yoga. This year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a mass yoga event at the Mysuru Palace grounds in Karnataka. PM Modi has been joined by 15,000 yoga enthusiasts in the event.

World Yoga Day is celebrated internationally with a unique theme every year. This year’s theme is “Yoga for Humanity”.

Practicing yoga might seem like just stretching, but it can do much more for your body than the way you feel, look and move. It even helps you with increased flexibility, muscle strength, and body tone. It improves respiration, energy, and vitality.

The concept of the ‘International Day of Yoga’ was first proposed by Prime Minister Modi during his speech at the UN General Assembly (UNGA), on September 27, 2014. The United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 2014, announced that June 21 will be seen as International Yoga Day or World Yoga Day.
