Indian Navy Day is celebrating today to commemorate the attack carried out on the Karachi harbor by Indian Navy ships during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. On this day, the Indian Navy’s attack on Karachi harbor contributed to the ultimate victory of the Indian Armed Forces over Pakistan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted personnel of the Indian Navy on Navy Day today via his official Twitter account.
He wrote, ” The Indian navy fearlessly protects our coasts and also renders humanitarian assistance in times of need.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also greeted personnel of the Indian Navy on Navy day today, he Tweeted and wrote, “On the occasion of #indiannavyday2020 my greetings and best wishes to all personnel of this outstanding force. On Navy Day, various events are organized by the Indian Navy to reach out to citizens through various mass contact programs. This year due to the Covid-19 forced restrictions, the outreach has turned largely virtual.
