Bengaluru, May 3 (IANS) As many as 13 patients tested positive for coronavirus in Karnataka in the last 24 hours, taking the southern state’s tally to 614, an official said on Sunday.
“Since Saturday evening, 13 new positive cases have been reported from across the state, raising its total to 614 till date, with 295 active cases, 293 discharged, including 22 on Sunday,” a health official said in a statement here.
There were 25 Covid deaths and one for a non-Covid cause.
Of the 13 cases, 7 are women and 6 men. Of them, 6 are from Kalaburagi, 4 from Bengaluru and three from Bagalkote in the state’s northwest region.
“Of the 295 active cases, 292 in the designated hospitals are stable, while three are in the intensive care unit,” said the statement.
Of the Kalaburagi cases, one is a 13-year-old girl, a contact of a patient under treatment in the state-run hospital.
One Kalaburagi patient is a Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) case, while another from Badami in Bagalkote is under investigation for SARI symptoms.
“Three Kalaburagi cases are also under investigation for influenza like illness,” added the official.
Of the 22 discharged during the day, 11 are from Mysuru, 4 each from Bagalkote and Vijayapura (Bijapur) and one each from Bengaluru, Ballari and Chikkaballapura.
Contact tracing has been initiated and is in progress for all cases.
Of the 5,168 tested on Sunday, 4,523 came as negative.
“Of the total 74,898 tests carried so far, 70,998 were negative across the state,” noted the official./
