IIT Delhi is planning to fully resume its offline or physical classes in January 2022, Director V Ramgopal Rao said at a press conference on Friday.
He said that first-year students of IIT Delhi will be starting physical classes by November and that by January 2022, the normal procedure of conducting classes will be back on track with Covid-19 precautions in place.
Further, Shantanu Roy, Dean Academics, said that students would be returning to hostels gradually, in a graded manner, so that all Covid-19 safety protocols could be followed.
He said that the authorities at IIT Delhi were expecting to expect the DDMA (Delhi Disaster Management Authority) in order to further relax the Covid-19 safety measures if things remained well.
When that happened, IIT Delhi would move back to actual classrooms but gradually. Core courses in various disciplines would go offline first while elective courses continue online.
Shantanu Roy also said that there was a possibility of holding offline exams in the future but that classrooms would continue to operate at 50% capacity only.
