Guru Nanak Jayanti: From Celebrities to common people celebrate 551st Gurpurab on social media
Today is the most auspicious day in Sikhism is Guru Nanak Jayanti. Sikhs and others around the world are celebrating Gurpurab. From celebrities to common people sharing Greetings, quotes of Guru Nanak, messages with quotes of the great Sikh Guru, and photos on WhatsApp, Facebook, and Twitter. This year the 551st birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev is being observed.
To make this auspicious day remindful, some celebrities have been shared their thoughts and wishes on social media.

Guru Nanak Jayanti starts with Akhand Path or a non-stop reading of Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of the Sikhs at the Gurdwaras. People take out processions called Nagar Kirtan in communities early in the morning. People walk down the streets chanting beautiful hymns and prayers. The Nagar Kirtan is led with a Palki or Palanquin of Guru Granth Sahib.
However, due to COVID-19, this year’s celebrations are going to be restricted to limited spaces. No grand celebration will take place this year in order to avoid large crowds and maintain social distancing.
