Google Workspace is now available for all Gmail users

Google Workspace services are now available for free to all users with a Google account, CEO Sundar Pichai has announced.

Workspace, formerly known as G Suite, offers all the same Google services including Gmail, Docs, Chat, Drive, Calendar, etc. With this feature now enabled, users can take advantage of the integrated experience in Google Workspace by turning on Rooms in Google Chat.

The company detailed the new changes on its blog on Monday, detailing how Google’s new, updated Chat service – which is set to replace Hangouts, along with updated Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, Gmail, and other features will soon receive better integration for all users – just like it currently works for existing paying Workspace users, the company explains.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai took to Twitter to announce that the fully integrated Google Workspace experience is now available to all users with a Google account.

Javier Soltero, VP, and GM, Google Workspace, said, “Collaboration doesn’t stop at the workplace — our products have been optimized for broad participation, sharing, and helpfulness since the beginning. Our focus is on delivering consumers, workers, teachers, and students alike an equitable approach to collaboration, while still providing a flexibility that allows these different subsets of users to take their own approach to communication and collaboration.”

Users can head over to the Gmail inbox to enable Google Chat and access the features for free including the new collaboration tool in Rooms. These features have been available for paid users, but now all Google account holders can access them for free.
