FinMin staff, PSUs contribute Rs 430 cr to PM-CARES Fund

New Delhi, April 5 (IANS) Employees of the Union Ministry of Finance and public sector enterprises, including banks, under it have contributed Rs 430.13 crore to the PM-CARES Fund to fight the coronavirus pandemic, according to an official statement, here on Sunday.

“The officers and staff of the Ministry of Finance, including officials of financial institutions and public sector banks/enterprises under the Ministry, have come forward to donate a day’s salary and the corporate social responsibility (CSR) fund amounting to Rs 430.13 crore to the PM-CARES Fund for providing assistance to those impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic,” it said.

The contribution includes donation by employees of the Department of Economic Affairs, the SEBI, the Department of Expenditure, the Department of Financial Services, the Department of Revenue, the State Bank of India, the UCO Bank, the Life Insurance Corporation of India, among others.

The Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES Fund) was set up on March 28 with the primary objective of dealing with any kind of emergency or distress situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and to provide relief to the affected people.
