Facebook Bans Self-Harm Images To Fight Against Suicide

Facebook Will Not Allow Self-Harming Contents.

On the World Suicide Prevention Day, Facebook announces they are tighning the policies around suicide or self-harming content.

This announcement comes after consulting with some experts of that topic.
Besides that Facebook is also hiring a new safety Policy Manager for this. This person will analyze how Facebook’s policies and apps will impact on people’s health. Also the person will find new ways by which Facebook can offer better community support.
According to a report by the World Health Organization, about 8 million people die due to suicide every year, or one person every 40 seconds.

Antigone Davis, the global head of safety at Facebook, in a blog post, that,

“Today, on World Suicide Prevention Day, we’re sharing an update on what we’ve learned and some of the steps we’ve taken in the past year, as well as additional actions we’re going to take, to keep people safe on our apps, especially those who are most vulnerable.”
Facebook also tightening the policies on Instagram too so that it becomes harder to search self-injury related contents as Instagram is owned by Facebook.
