Diego Maradona Death: PM Modi pays tribute to Argentina legend

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday condoled the death of Argentine football legend Diego Maradona.

Maradona died due to a cardiac arrest in his residence in Buenos Aires. He was 60 years old at the time of his passing.

Maradona is survived by five children including Italian footballer Diego Sinagra and his only wife Claudia Villafane, to whom he was married from 1984 to 2004.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Modi took to his official Twitter handle and extended grief on the sudden death of Maradona. PM Modi wrote, “Diego Maradona was a maestro of football, who enjoyed global popularity.

Argentinian president Alberto Fernandez has declared three days of mourning in the country for Maradona’s death.

Maradona, who was known for his amazing dribbling skills, could easily outfox and assist defenders or reach goal-scoring positions on his own.

He will always be remembered for winning the 1986 World Cup for Argentina.
