Delhi to give ration to 10 lakh poor without ration cards

New Delhi, April 1 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said the government will be giving ration to about 10 lakh poor in the city who were not having ration cards.

Kejriwal said to avoid any duplication, the families will have to apply for the ration card, but they will not have to wait to get the card.

“About 10 lakh poor people do not have ration card in Delhi. I request them to apply for the ration card on government e-district website. I am not saying they will get the card, but they will start getting the ration till the coronavirus crisis continues,” the Chief Minister said.

He asked families to take the help of those nearby for the online procedure or they can even go to MLA’s office for help.

“Those who do not have ration card, please apply for a card. You will get ration,” Kejriwal said.

The Chief Minister said all companies have to pay salaries on time and without any deduction.

However, he said salaries of many employees are stuck because the offices are closed. He said he received complaints that due to the lockdown, no one is in the office for salary calculation.

For the disposal of salaries on time, he said movement passes will be issued to two people from each organisation to transfer employees’ salaries through online transactions.

“The passes will be valid for two days. The passes will enable the bearers to go to their respective offices to calculate and transfer the employees’ salaries online,” Kejriwal said.

The country is under lockdown for three weeks due to coronavirus till April 14.
