COVID-19: West Bengal announces full lockdown from May 16 for the next 15 days

The West Bengal government today (May 15, 2021) has announced a 15-day complete lockdown from May 16 amid rising COVID-19 cases.

The step has been taken in view of rising COVID-19 cases. West Bengal on Friday recorded its highest single-day spike of 20,846 fresh coronavirus infections, taking the total tally to 10,94,802. The death toll in the state has also mounted to 12,993 after 136 more people succumbed to COVID-19.

Check West Bengal lockdown few short guidelines here:

1. All private offices, schools, colleges will remain closed.
2. Bazaars, markets selling vegetables, fruits, milk, bread to only remain open from 7-10 am.
3. Local trains, metro services, inter-state bus/train services, Inland Waterways to remain closed.
4. Intra-state goods trucks movement restricted except for essential supplies.
5. Private cars, taxis, auto movement to remain closed.
6. Bank working hours – 10-2 pm.
7. No movement of people and vehicles to be allowed from 9 pm-5 am.

Earlier, the state government imposed partial lockdown allowing intra-state transports and local transport modes to ply and shops to operate between 7 am and 10 am and 5 pm and 7 pm.
