Bhubaneswar, June 25 (IANS) In view of its rising Covid-19 cases, Berhampur Municipal Corporation in Odisha’s Ganjam district will remain shut down for four days starting from June 27, District Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange announced on Thursday.
He said the shutdown has been ordered to facilitate active tracing and surveillance amid rising coronavirus cases.
As many as 70 medical teams have been formed for detailed screening in the city.
Barring medical shops and milk delivery, no other activities are allowed, said Kulange.
Out of total 5,962 COVID-19 positive cases in Odisha, Ganjam district has recorded highest of 1,088 positive cases and eight deaths so far.
Meanwhile, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials on Thursday carried out surprise visits to 10 private hospitals in the capital city to check their adherence to Covid-19 guidelines.
With an increase in number of infection among health workers, the Health Department has framed guideline for all private hospitals as a measure for infection prevention and control practice.
It advised all hospitals to follow the advisory for managing health care workers working in Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 areas of the hospital.
