COVID-19: 12 more test positive in Gurugram; 10 Tablighis

Gurugram, April 8 (IANS) Twelve more COVID-19 cases emerged in Gurugram on Wednesday with 10 of them directly connected to the Tablighi Jamaat who had actively participated in the Nizamuddin Markaz event in Delhi.

J.S. Punia, Civil Surgeon of Gurugram confirmed the development. The infected persons are residents of Raipur village under Sohna Tahsil in Gurugram district. Following the reports, the entire village was locked down on Monday evening. With this, Gurugram now has 32 positive patients and 23 of them are undergoing treatment in different hospitals.

“We have taken samples of 16 persons who were participated in the Markaz recently. Out of them 10 are found positive. They have been shifted to civil hospital Gurugram for treatment. We have cordoned off the entire village with the help of district police and police barricades applied there,” Punia said.

“We have also started the proceedings of taking samples of every person in the village. Sanitation of the village is currently underway,” Punia said.

“We have also recommended to district administration to find out other persons who came in contact with them recently,” Punia said.

District administration has taken samples of 86 persons who recently participated in Tablighi Jamaat events in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan. 14 of them are positive and results of the rest are awaited.

With this, a total of 24 positive cases were reported in Haryana on Wednesday with 12 from Gurugram, 7 from Faridabad, 1 from Fatehabad, 1 from Nuh, 2 from Palwal, and 1 from Sonepat. A total of 153 positive cases were registered in Haryana with highest 38 reported from Nuh, 32 from Gurugram, and 28 each from Faridabad and Palwal.
