B-Town embraces asanas on International Yoga Day

Mumbai, June 21 (IANS) Bollywood celebrities like Taapsee Pannu, Dia Mirza and Raveena Tandon have opened up about making yoga a part of their daily routine on the occasion of International Yoga Day.

Taapsee shared a photo of herself doing an asana and wrote on Instagram: “Like most of us, I always thought that yoga is just about twisting our body into complicated contortions and about being a human pretzel. Until @munmun.ganeriwal told me it isn’t. Sitting on the mat every day for few minutes, trying to tune in even when infinite thoughts might interfere, offers as much benefits to our body and mind. The act of meditating is actually classified as aUpasana Yoga’ in Yogic scriptures.

“An incredible stroke of luck is that International Yoga Day today coincides with the Solar Eclipse. An eclipse is one of the best time to deepen our spiritual practice, so make sure you meditate today for few minutes at least. If you are thinking how to start …. @munmun.ganeriwal says, “the best way to begin a meditation practice is to begin!” #InternationalYogaDay2020.”

Also sharing benefits of yoga on Instagram, Dia wrote: “Making yoga and meditation a part of my daily routine has been the best gift i could give my self. It has helped improve awareness of mind and body and made me more attuned with myself. I feel centred, focussed and strong. The power of the breath and the benefits of breathing techniques are many, but the most important to me has been the balance breathing has given me.”

Raveena said she understood the true essence of the word, yoga, very early in her life. “Yoga is a mindfulness of being with oneself and connect on the most inner self. It’s a way of life that changes how we lead our lives by being present in the current moment. It’s a journey of awakening mind, body and soul at the same time. Wishing everyone a happy International Yoga Day!,” she wrote on social media.

Actress Mallika Sherawat shared a post about one of “my fav rope work yoga asana to correct the posture, open the shoulders, chest & arms #YogaDay #yoga #Internationalyogaday2020 #YogaForAll #iyengaryoga”.

Producer Deepshikha Deshmukh has been home together with family and yoga is one of the many things they have found joy in.

“We all lead extremely chaotic and busy lives, so this stop-gap has allowed us to really bond and find rewarding activities to do together. Yoga was always something I personally found peace in, I am a big fan of Pranayams and I think its what intrigued Diviyaana and Vansh (children) as well. They’ve proactively begun to join my morning sessions, and it’s extremely calming to guide them and great fun. It’s a wonderful activity to indulge in with our families at home to get away for a little bit,” Deepshikha said.

“Its a tough world out there and future generations should be equipped to deal with anything that comes their way. Being accustomed to a calming activity like yoga can only bode well for our young ones in the future,” she added.

Producer Ritesh Sidhwani tweeted: “This International Yoga Day, let’s embrace the asanas of safety! #InternationalYogaDay.”
