No home quarantine for SSB candidates coming to B’luru

Bengaluru, July 22 (IANS) There is no need of home quarantine for Services Selection Board (SSB) candidates scheduled to attend interviews from July 31 in the city for jobs in the armed forces, said an official on Wednesday.

“The candidates coming for SSB will be treated as business travellers and hence are automatically exempted from the 14 days home quarantine rule,” said Captain Manivannan, head, Home Quarantine Task Force.

Incidentally, several students from across the country have asked for clarification on home quarantine, checking if they need to arrive a fortnight before the interview to comply with the state government’s rule of 14 days home quarantine for inter-state travellers.

“In this background, it is clarified that there is no need for 14 days home quarantine and as such the candidates are advised to report at the Border Receiving Centres (BRCs)as business travellers coming for SSB by producing the call letter,” said Manivannan.

BRCs include airports, railway and bus stations.

However, according to the requirement of SSB, all the candidates have to produce a Covid negative certificate.

On arriving, the candidates will be stamped with a ‘Quarantine’ sign as well as ‘SSB’.

“The list of those candidates who have reported to the SSB campus will be collected daily and tallied with the list of candidates reported at the BRCs,” he said.

The senior IAS officer has warned that any discrepancy in the procedure will be intimated to SSB and dealt with according to the law, in addition to shifting the violating candidates to an institutional quarantine facility at their own cost.

With 1,714 infections on Tuesday, Bengaluru continues to report the highest number of cases in the southern state, raising its tally to 34,943 cases, out of which 26,746 are active.
