4.5 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Ladakh’s Kargil

An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale jolted the Kargil in Ladakh at 1:11 pm on Thursday. The epicenter was reported 119 km northwest of Kargil.

According to the National Centre for Seismology confirmed the quake and said that it was a medium intensity quake measuring 4.5. As well as, there were no immediate reports of loss of life or property.

This is the second earthquake in Ladakh in about a week. Last week, a moderate magnitude earthquake shook Ladakh. The quake struck at a depth of 25 km at 8.15 pm, according to the NCS.

It is must be noted that the Himalayan region falls in the region of severe earthquake intensity in India

On June 30, a small earthquake struck Jammu and Kashmir. The magnitude of the earthquake was 4.0. No casualties was reported.
