3 new Covid-19 cases raise Jharkhand tally to 227

Ranchi, May 18 (IANS) With the detection of three more cases on Monday, the number of Covid-19 cases in Jharkhand has risen to 227.

One case each has been found in the Hazaribagh, Jamshedpur and West Singhbhum districts. It was the first case in the West Singhbhum district. The coronavirus has spread to 17 of the 24 Jharkhand districts.

The Ranchi district has recorded 104 coronavirus cases, which included 2 foreigners, Garhwa (28), Hazaribagh (26), Simdega (20), Palamu (15), Giridih and Bokaro (10 each), Koderma (6), Dhanbad, Deoghar and East Singhbhum (5 each), Jamtara, Dumka and Ramgarh (2 each), Godda, Latehar, Lohardaga, West Singbhum (one each).

There has been three deaths in the state.

While 107 case are active, 113 people have been discharged. In Ranchi 83 people have been cured, Bokaro (9), Deoghar 4, Hazaribagh, Garhwa and Palamu (3 each), Simdega, Dhanbad and Dumka (2 each), Koderma and Giridih (one each).

Of the 227 cases, 53 are women and 174 men. According to the Health Department data, 37,848 samples have been collected and 33,220 tested. Of this, 32,997 turned negative.

The number of people under surveillance ia 5,073. 3,558 people have completed 28-day observation.
